Fall '25 Printmaking Residency
Meet Our Resident Artist
Jo Cladinos is a Long Beach printmaker whose work bridges traditional techniques with contemporary psychological and emotional themes. She earned her MFA in Printmaking at California State University, Long Beach, where she honed her practice in time-bound processes that
mirror the enduring relevance of her subject matter.

With ink-stained nails, Cladinos scratches away at the perceivedmdistinctions between what is animalistic and what is human, the internal and external, the visible and the concealed.

Her work invites viewers to approach, protected by the soft guise of the animal body, offering a space for self-reflection that doesn’t burn on contact. And yet, the illusion is never complete; the softness beckons, but what lies beneath is boiling just under the surface.

About the residency
In partnership with printmaking artist Edgar Martinez and made possible by a grant from the Arts Council for Long Beach, Munzón Gallery is excited to announce this upcoming Printmaking Residency Program.
This residency offers artists the opportunity to immerse themselves in a dedicated relief printmaking studio for 4–6 weeks, with access to our etching presses and facilities. One selected artist will receive a small materials stipend to support the development of their project.
At the culmination of the residency, participating artists are asked to share their work with the community through one of the following:
-
An open studio,
-
A showcase or exhibition, or
-
A community workshop led by the artist.
This program is designed to support experimentation, research, and creative growth, while fostering public engagement through printmaking.
